Emily McClintock Ekins is a Ph.D. student in the Political Science department at the University of California, Los Angeles. She plans to use her Ph.D. to launch a career in academia to both conduct research and teach at a research-oriented university.
Emily graduated from Brigham Young University in 2006 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Economics. Her research currently focuses on American politics, American political economy, and quantitative and survey methodology. In particular, her dissertation will likely focus on political parties, coalitions, and ideology and in particular the recently emergent Tea Party movement. She also does some research with the Cato Institute, a public policy think tank in Washington, D.C.
Before starting her PhD program at UCLA, Emily worked as a full-time research assistant at Harvard Business School.
