Chris Giovarelli, National Communications VP (2011)

Chris Giovarelli (BA ’08) was raised in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C., which fed his early political interests.  Elected to the Fairfax County School Board as the student representative at the age of 17, he received early, first-hand experience in politics and public service while representing the district’s then 160,000 students.

While studying communications at BYU, Chris was heavily involved in on-campus political affairs, serving in various capacities within BYU’s student associations.  In 2006 he was elected BYU’s student body president.  While in school, Chris participated in a number of internships, including working on Capitol Hill for Congressmen Chris Cannon’s office and working for BYU’s Media Relations Department.  Following graduation, he took a position with the BYU Alumni Association, and in his spare time managed a state legislature campaign for Deon Turley in Utah County.

Chris currently lives in Portland, Oregon where he is the director of marketing for a life insurance company based there.  In addition to serving as the communications vice president for the BYU Political Affairs Society, Chris is also the vice chair of the BYU Alumni Association’s Portland Chapter.
